Harlem Jazz Shrines Festival The fourth annual Harlem Jazz Shrines festival, a weeklong, Harlem-wide celebration of jazz. The Harlem Jazz Shrines Fes­ti­val cel­e­brates the clas­sic clubs and venues that made Harlem the jazz Mecca of the 1920’s. While pay­ing trib­ute to the great­ness of the past, this Festival’s pulse is the present, high­light­ing an array of today’s top and emerg­ing tal­ent, show­ing that Harlem really is where it’s at! New and established artists (such as Arturo O'Farrill and Vijay Iyer) will play at the Apollo, Harlem Stage Gatehouse and the recently revived Minton's Playhouse, among other venues. Also of note, jazz vespers will be held at Abyssinian Baptist Church during the fest, and Columbia University has scheduled cultural programming for the occasion.(FREE - $10) Event Website
