This is the first major museum exhibition to focus Edward Hopper's drawings and creative process. The Whitney's collection of Hopper's work includes more than 2,500 drawings, many of which have never been exhibited. In this exhibit, the Whitney surveys Hopper's work as a draftsman with more than 200 of his drawings, presented alongside some of his major oil paintings including New York Movie (1939), Office at Night (1940), Nighthawks (1942), and Morning in a City (1944). These drawings showcased Hopper's ability to transform everyday objects (roads, streets, offices) into iconic images.($20/$16 senior)
