Neil Simon’s first musical features a comic actor’s dream: seven plum roles, from an innocent college boy to an octogenarian lecher to the dying king of a tiny Mittel-European country that doesn’t seem to exist. All of these oddballs share one thing in common – they pursue or are pursued by the glamorous Belle Poitrine. Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh provided a high-energy score that includes “I’ve Got Your Number”, “Real Live Girl” and “The Other Side of the Tracks”.
