In late 2008, Poets House will move to its permanent home at Two River Terrace in Battery Park City. Singer/songwriter Jill Sobule rose to fame with the hit single "I Kissed a Girl". Sobule has dabbled in off-Broadway musicals, made an appearance on NBC's "West Wing", composed for Nickelodeon, and was in the film "Mind the Gap". (Free) Event Website
(Church of the Holy Trinity, 316 East 88th Street, New York, NY 10128) (7:15 P.M.) Screening of this award-winning documentary on the life of Bayard Rustin, an openly gay civil rights activist in the severely homophobic 1940s, 50s, and 60s. He was an advisor to Martin Luther King, and the architect of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs, Peace & Freedom. Screening followed by panel discussion with Bennett Singer (the producer/director of "Brother Outsider") and Walter Naegle, Bayard Rustin's partner, archivist and executor.
