(LGBT Community Center, 208 West 13th St, New York, NY 10011) (10am) The Center is pleased to participate in the dedication of the AIDS Monument in New York City. The AIDS monument is located on a landscape sight on the River at Bank Street. The Monument consists of a 42 foot long; 2 foot tall curved stone bench set within a knoll of pine trees on an existing path. It was the hope of the Committee that the monument foster a continuing dialogue about AIDS as well as give our community a focal point for our collective grief. The Monument pays tribute to those who have died of AIDS and honors those who provide care as well as those whose research will one day eradicate AIDS. Today's dedication begins at The Center with a classical concert produced by Down Town Music Productions under the artistic directions of Mimi Stern-Wolff. Immediately following the concert we will march en masse from The Center to Pier 39 at Bank Street to dedicate the AIDS Monument. The Concert and brunch begin at 10:30am. The march begins at 11:30am and the Dedication beings at 12:30pm. A continental brunch will be served. Specifics about the AIDS Monument can be found at www.AIDSMonumentCommittee.com.
