Harlem Jazz Shrines Festival
The fourth annual Harlem Jazz Shrines festival, a weeklong, Harlem-wide celebration of jazz. The Harlem Jazz Shrines Festival celebrates the classic clubs and venues that made Harlem the jazz Mecca of the 1920’s. While paying tribute to the greatness of the past, this Festival’s pulse is the present, highlighting an array of today’s top and emerging talent, showing that Harlem really is where it’s at!
New and established artists (such as Arturo O'Farrill and Vijay Iyer) will play at the Apollo, Harlem Stage Gatehouse and the recently revived Minton's Playhouse, among other venues. Also of note, jazz vespers will be held at Abyssinian Baptist Church during the fest, and Columbia University has scheduled cultural programming for the occasion.(FREE - $10)
