(Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts, Brooklyn College, 2900 Campus Road, Brooklyn, NY 11210) (8pm) Making their New York premiere as part of their first U.S. tour, this venerated choir is comprised of some of the finest singers in Russia and includes four bassi profundi, adding a unique depth and richness to the ensemble’s legendary sound. With repertoire including 19th century liturgical works, selections by Russian composers such as Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov, and Russian folk songs, marches, and anthems, The Male Choir of St. Petersburg offers a truly remarkable expression of the soul of Russian music. (Chelsea Art Museum, 556 West 22nd Street, New York, NY 10011) (1 pm) The panel discussion will provide a short overview of the exhibition UN-SCR-1325 and will further elaborate on the artworks in the show through live comments by the curators, organizers and artists. The group exhibition UN-SCR-1325 brings together the works of eight Belgian artists with the works of nine American artists. Referencing the United Nations Social Security Resolution 1325, the exhibition focuses on the position of women in global and local sociopolitical contexts.
