February 29 - March 11

  Copyright 2012   www.moonkissedmedia.com

Last week we took another step forward... the Maryland Senate gave final approval to a marriage equality bill, bringing Maryland closer to joining seven other states and the District of Columbia in allowing same-sex couples to marry. Thank you Gov. Martin O'Malley for your support and for your commitment to campaign to retain the law if opponents are able to gather the signatures required to put the issue on the ballot. Hey Christie ...there are governors that can do the right thing.

The NH Legislature is currently threatening to repeal the marriage equality law. Marriage Equality NY / USA and Standing Up for New Hampshire Families need us to show up and help phone bank to protect the NH marriage equality law...

I don't remember a time when there has been as much media coverage focused on the LGBT community... a few years ago the words "gay" or "homosexual" were buried somewhere in the back of the news. Now stories are bombarding media with tons of issues. Everyday there are at least 5 stories either for us or against us... One Million Moms last week threatened Toys 'R' Us with a boycott because the toy chain is carrying the controversial Archie comics issue featuring the wedding of Kevin Keller, an openly gay character. After last week's controversial winter finale episode of "Glee" where former bully Dave Karofsky (Max Adler) attempted suicide after being outed as gay to his classmates... The Trevor Project's volume went up about 300 percent... BUT the top of the list goes to Rick Santorum, that self-righteous idiot said in his own inarticulate words that President Kennedy's speech on separation of church and state disgusted him and made him want "to vomit." Rick...you make me want to vomit!!

On a personal note I am inviting all of you to join me on March 13th to the screening of here TV's documentary "30 Years From Here". Activists, medical experts, and people who were on the ground describe their stories from the war on AIDS...I'm one of those stories...please join me.

March begins the "fundraising" season...GLAAD Media Awards, The Center Dinner, Jeffrey Fashion Cares, DINING by Design Gala Diner, Night of a Thousand Gowns that's just for starters.....some come with very pricey tickets. Become a volunteer at any one of the up coming events and experience the event while being of service to the community.

"Help Wanted"... March 17-18 is the 19h Annual GLBT EXPO at the Javits and we could use some extra hands at our booth.  It's a great opportunity to make some new friends, have fun and earn a little extra cash.

*GLBT events are highlighted in purple.
